| $1,200 Fellowship Award

The International
Alumnae of Delta Epsilon Sorority (IADES) is
a firm believer in encouraging deaf women to aspire
towards attaining a higher education and to excel
in academic endeavors.
Since 1989, IADES
has been granting an annual fellowship award to a
qualified deaf woman pursuing a Ph.D. degree.
The 2006
Betty G. Miller Fellowship Award is
$1,200, which is intended for tuition costs
only during the 2005 spring academic
year, and which will be payable to the recipient's
college or university in January 2005. This
award is in honor of Sister Betty, who was the first
Gallaudet woman graduate to receive a doctorate degree. |

| Eligibility is determined
on the basis of the doctoral applicant's attainment of: |
-
12 or more credits
and
-
GPA of 3.0 (or
better)

| The application process will
require the following documents: |
-
the IADES
Fellowship Award application form, completely
filled out;
-
official
transcripts of your M.A. and Ph.D. records;
-
a recent
copy of your audiogram, or a letter from a
certified audiologist, doctor, or other appropriate
professional verifying your hearing loss;
-
two letters of
recommendation:
-
one from
your advisor or professor in your doctoral program,
and
-
one from
your current employer or from a deaf leader
who knows you well, both professionally
and socially
